The workspace .log file is not visible in Windows

In Rational® Application Developer (RAD) installed on a Microsoft® Windows® operating system, sometimes the [ ].log[ ] file in the workspace [ ].metadata[ ] folder is not present or is not visible.

Resolving The Problem

A .log file should normally exist in the workspace .metadata directory whenever an error has occurred in using a RAD tool. This .log file would show the exception or error encountered.

However, sometimes in Windows® Explorer: Folder Options > View tab: Advanced settings, the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option has been checked. If this option is checked, clear the selection and you should then be able to see .log files that are created in the .metadata directory for errors that occur with RAD tools.

Similarly it is useful to check the radio button: "Show hidden files and folders", under Hidden Files and Folders.
